  • We were living in central TX on 9/11. My husband & I were both working for a small city, when he called me at work early in the AM, telling me what was happening & I realized we were now at war. We lived near Ft. Hood Army Base & immediately realized that our friends & neighbors would be so impacted by this, as were our friends in NYC & other areas of our country. We were so impacted by 9/11 & still are, as are so many of our citizens. It does not seem possible that so many years have passed, despite how recent it seems. We will never forget that day & our brave brothers & sisters that we lost that day. They are a wonderful lesson in how to serve your country by sacrifice. My best wishes for all of us, Julie S.
    Julie S.

  • Tuesday, September 11, 2001 was a turning point in the history of this country. I will never forget the men, women and children who lost their lives that day, or the brave men and women who so selfesslessly rushed in when everyone was rushing out. So many others assisted in the recovery and rebuilding, only to develop health complications of their own. I am committed to keeping their memory alive, and each September as long as I am teaching I will bring the stories of these everyday heroes to my students. Never Forget.

  • I will never forget 9/11. On that morning I was a simple FBI Agent working out of the Federal Building at 26 Federal Plaza. My tribute is to the New York Office FBI employees and all first responders. When the planes hit our offices emptied. All headed for the WTC and jumped in to aid in evacuations, traffic control and anything else that came our way. When the building collapsed I was thinking my life was over as I ran from the North Tower, to safety. For the days, months and years following the attack we worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. I often think of my former colleagues, Leonard Hatton and John O'Neil who died on that terrible day. May they and all who perished on 9/11 rest in peace, and may all who have died from various diseases in the years since, rest in peace.
    Jaime C.

É muito doloroso saber que tantas pessoas não tiveram a possibilidade de aproveitar suas vidas. Deixo aqui minha singela homenagem e a certeza que o bem sempre vencerá o mau.

It always sounded surreal, but now, after visiting the 9/11 Memorial, I can better imagine what really happened. I'm stunned by the new complex, with a memorial, helping to better understand, but also respect the events, as well as a new tower representing the strength and the will to stand up and fight. I wish all the best to families, relatives, friends, survivors and everyone connected to this tragedy! May the strength be with you!

It was in the heart of unimaginable devastation that your resilience shone brightest, embodying the indomitable spirit of humanity. You searched, sifted, and moved mountains of rubble, working long, hard hours under stressful and dangerous conditions. With every piece of wreckage lifted, you restored pieces of our broken hearts. The tears you shed, the sweat that poured, the hands that blistered, all became the balm that helped heal a wounded nation. Each one of you is a testament to courage, determination, and strength. When all seemed lost, you exemplified unity and compassion. You reminded us that even in the face of great adversity, we are never alone. That we rise or fall together, bound by shared sorrow and an unwavering belief in the human spirit. In your honor, I share these words on the Blue Sky Remembrance Wall. It is a small tribute for a monumental feat, a meager offering compared to the selflessness you have shown. Yet, it is given with heartfelt gratitude and deep respect. May these words stand as a beacon of hope, just as you did during those harrowing days. In this era of uncertainty, your example continues to guide us. It teaches us that bravery isn't just about conquering fear but about caring for others, even when the path ahead is perilous and uncertain. Thank you for your courage, for your sacrifice, and for reminding us what it truly means to be human. As we look up to the blue sky today, we remember your service and vow never to forget. With utmost respect and gratitude, Renato

  • Two months and three days prior to the greatest tragedy our nation has ever suffered, I celebrated my birthday by visiting the majestic towers as an active duty member. After having paid my respects at the Arizona memorial, the sense of duty and service to fiercely protect our most fragile right was etched in my heart. Unknowingly, I slept through the attacks (after a 12 hour Night Shift). Until, I was woken by my sister who delivered the news. It took me several minutes to believe her; until I witnessed on the news everything the rest of the nation experienced through hours. I had to take in, and process everything within 10 minutes. The unbelievable shock, the grim scenes of destruction and heroism, the understanding of being at war (against a yet undetermined enemy), the shutdown of us airspace for the first time in history; literally made my knees tremble in sadness, pain and fear( almost buckling). That day will never ever be forgotten! I was privileged and forever will be honored to serve in the war. I shall also never forget the day I heard the news of the capture of the mastermind behind the attacks! To this day and every moment I think and remember that day, I’m overcome by sadness (for the souls taken, the loss of innocence of a whole generation and all the families who lost a loved one that day) and pride for those who without a doubt stepped up and made the ultimate sacrifice to provide aid and save as many lives as possible. You shall never be forgotten.

  • We will NEVER FORGET that morning in Krakow, Poland when we received word that the North Tower of the World Trade Center had gone down, our country, America, was under attack and our beloved son, Michael, was missing. Several hours later, it was unofficially confirmed that Michael had been in the building, but never to be recovered as his floor took a direct hit by the plane. The generations to come should always be taught to remember and honor ALL those lost on that fateful September morning \~ WE SHALL NEVER FORGOT !! Always in our hearts and never forgotten, Michael \~ a gift so rare, gone too soon. With much love, Mom and Dad Patricia and James Tamuccio, Sr.

I have my special hero as well who took his radios to ground zero and helped with communications until he became too sick to stay. I lost him in 2021. Love and miss you so very much babe.

  • I’ll never forget. Remember right where I was. I worked at a bank, and when I heard something was happening, I went in our conference room and turned on the tv. I watched the horror unfold, live. We all sat there watching and crying, all day. There were many, many prayers sent up to y’all from Louisiana. I was able to come up in late 2014 and tour the Museum. It is so moving and so sad. But it is beautifully done, and a wonderful way to remember all those who died that day. Every American should see it! Thank you for all the hard work it took to put the 9/11 Museum together. God bless you all.
    Patricia Ann B.

This was a day that should forever remind us of the beauty, spirit, and principles upon which our country was founded and continues to bravely represent, to the world and to each other -- people from all backgrounds working together to save and elevate us. Bless the lost and celebrate their legacy.

  • I will never forget that day. I have collected books and movies. My youngest son was a firefighter in Middletown, Kentucky, just on the outskirts of Louisville. His first son was born that day while we were watching the devastation going on. As he grew older we told him the significance of his birthday. When he graduated from high school, I asked him where did he want to go for his trip....he said New York so we took him to New York. He also visited two fire departments. He said that was the most memorable trip he had ever had. So, something good did happen on the day...my grandson was born. I told him he was an angel taking place of someone who perished on that day. I will never forget 911, and it still haunts me today.

  • I remember the day well and always commemorate the anniversary including being at the Flight 93 Memorial on the 20th year in 2021. I believe the remembrances of this day should be taught in all schools. So many were not born or old enough to remember this horrific day. Those of us who were alive and saw the sad destruction and also heroism of that day believe it should be revived every year so it is never forgotten. I have been to all 3 sites several times and it always brings both sadness for what happened and pride for how our country reacted. Always Remember.

  • September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 Americans were killed on that clear, sunny morning. Being at the World Trade Center that day and a witness to history, was the most horrifying experience I ever encountered. We vow never to forget. The impact is still being felt to this day, over two decades later, but one thing is becoming more apparent the more time passes, less people are remembering. Winston Churchill wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” We must ensure that history, especially the things that are hard to talk about, survive and endure so that we are prepared to protect our futures. Those too young to remember or who were not born, need to be educated about 9/11. We need to teach the young to connect with history or the consequences can be devastating. Never Forget.
    Bill
  • 21 years later, 9/11 remains one of hardest days of my life, and one I will never forget. I, like many others, will always remember where I was and what I was doing when the first plane hit. With that said, the city of New York's response, particularly that of the first responders, remains one of the greatest examples of heroism, bravery, and resilience in human history. God Bless New York. God Bless America.

  • My brother, Steven Jacobson, who worked on the top floor - the 110th, for WPIX, Channel 11 in NY died on 9/11.  They found his body on 12/7/2001 so at least we had some closure which is more than many other families had.  FYI, he was also there in 1993 when the WTC was attacked and remained there until the power was restored the next day.  He epitomized what it meant to be a dedicated employee.  Several years prior to the 2001 attacks, we had had a falling out but resolved our issue.  I cannot imagine how I would have felt if he had gone to his grave and we hadn't worked out our problem.  My advice now is to tell the people you love that you do and to let the stupid things go.  Remember, there are no do overs in life.  We should all just work together to make all of our lives easier; it really is such a simple concept.  Never, ever, forget!
    Janice F.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • While I was at the Memorial and Museum, I met people who had first hand loss - and others who like me, helplessly grieved for them. I remain in awe of the bravery displayed by first responders and average citizens who tried to help those in need. We saw the worst that humanity can exhibit on that day, but we've also seen the best that people can be. While 9/11 remains a sad and solemn day, I work hard to ensure that like me - my children and future generations will never forget what happened that day. Moreover, what compassion and understanding can do to overcome. Prayers to us all for continued healing. God Bless America!!
    Stephanie
  • Remembering all the lives lost and the brave survivors and their families. We will always thank and remember you.
    Lynne B.
  • I remember well the bright blue sky that Tuesday morning, and at first thinking that a small private plane must have hit the first World Trade Center tower when hearing the initial news report. So many vivid images from that day are burned into our memories, ones that we can never forget. Or should forget, either. Most of all, I'll always remember the heroism of the all the first responders, especially the brave firefighters, and how heroic the passengers of Flight 93 were before crashing. So terribly sad, and that feeling never seems to go away. We owe it to all of them to live up to their sacrifice, as best we can, every day for the rest of our lives.
    David K.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • I have been going to NYC for over 40 years & have taken groups from the size of 1 person to 70 people at the same time & toured them around. Before 9/11, I would always take them to the observation deck on the outside top of the south tower. I loved those beautiful towers & I still grieve with the families who lost loved ones on that day. I went back there 3 weeks after it happened to try to get some 'closure', but I discovered it's impossible to get closure on such an evil thing that the terrorist did that day with murdering so many people. And I'll end it with how I love the 911 Museum & what a great job you did with it to always remember & NEVER FORGET
    Marcheta F.
  • I certainly can not forget the day we lost you Joey and we relive it evert day since. I do thank God for giving me my children and you but he has taken you way to soon and left us out there to fall victim over and over again . I didn’t think anyone would hurt us the way they did after so many people had helped us there were the people that stood in the background just thinking how to deceive us when does it end.
    Philomena M.
  • As a First Responder during 9/11 and attending twenty-one years of 9/11 tribute at GZ, watching all the structures rise at GZ, ultimately our beautiful museum at the center, I am proud of all those who do remember. I cannot thank the management and staff who have personally made my visits warm and easy on my soul. I feel I am family and part of the museum. I look at pieces of shattered lives I personally collected on display. I look at my name forever inscribed on the steel beam that sits at the heart of the museum. Thank you and bless you all.
    Michael Andrew F.
  • this event must be something that must always be remembered and kept well in mind, this must remind us what can happen when there are people who hate each other because in the end those who pay the costs are the citizens and we must keep in mind the idea of ??how ugly it is losing someone dear.

  • I am a survivor as my office was on the 73rd Fl of 2 WTC. It was the only working day in 19years that I was not in either tower as I also ate breakfast @ the WTC club 1 WTC 107 floor. I pray for the over 100 friends and co workers that lost their lives on 9/11 & afterwards as well as everyone else. They are in my heart forever. Thoughts & prayers for all the victims & their families. There were so many heroes who gave their lives to save others. May God bless America forever. And I will never ever forget them.

  • Even after 21 years, it feels like yesterday when our country was attacked in the most horrific way. I feel for each and every person who suffered and died as a result of the attacks, and they will never be forgotten. May our country continue to stand strong and move forward while honoring those who perished.
    Jan N.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • On this 21st remembrance of this horrific event, I continue to be struck by the raw emotions that Americans continue to have for those who perished and the families of those who perished. None of us will forget all the firemen, policemen and Port Authority personnel who placed themselves in harms way to save so many of the people who worked in the World Trade Center. It is incredible that 99 percent of those who worked below the fires survived. They will forever be beholden to all the first responders who made that possible, many of whom perished themselves. Even more astounding are those children of these first responders who perished who have chosen to follow in their parents’ footsteps by joining the NYPD and NYFD. God bless you and all the other first responders who protect each of us daily.
    Roger B.
  • We must remember the voices of those we lost on 9/11. We must remember them for more than the way they died. We must remember their lives; their hopes and dreams, and even their fears. Their voices were silenced but their stories must live on. They live on in the memories, hearts, and smiles of those they left behind. We have a great responsibility: the responsibility to remember. In remembering, we ensures those we lost live on.
    Greg P.

  • At our 21st memorial service in Maspeth, Queens, yesterday, we honored the 19 men we lost from our Firehouse - 11 from HazMat 1, and 8 from Squad 288, as well as too many neighbors, and three who've passed from illness related to working at Ground Zero.  We saw so many children of those 19 men, now adults, some with children of their own - children who will never see that grandfather, never hear his stories, never go for a walk with him....  But children who have been told about that grandfather, who lives in the memories of their family members.

  • I pledge to never forget where me and my family were that day. What happened and why it happened. We had to explain to our children that night the hatred in this world and why people do bad things. It was not an easy conversation. It was hard for everyone in America. The hero’s that went in and helped save some, and never came back out from the towers, the Pentagon, and the flights, There were many heroes that day that I cannot name. But, because of what happened it changed our country in many ways. There were acts of kindness all around our country and the world. May God bless the families of the Victims today and always, and may God bless America

  • I will never forget the feeling I felt when I heard and later saw on the television of the planes hitting the two towers and the plane hitting the pentagon. When I heard and read the story of United Airlines Flight 93 that went down after the passengers refused to let the terrorist use this plane to destroy another place or building in our country. I will never ever forget the true heroes in that plane. I will always remember everyone of our first responders that worked and helped during this terrible tragedy. God Bless the USA!! God Bless our true heroes that worked each of the sites and saved as many people as they could during this tragedy!! God Bless each of the people and their families that were involved.

  • Although on 9/11/01 I was not yet born and even though I am a Mexican woman... Really at 22 years old, I get very sad because of the 4 attacks that occurred. I honestly cannot imagine the great pain and fear felt by all the lost souls of the Pentagon, the twin towers and flights: 11, 77, 93 and 175, as well as their families. ?? From Mexico, I give a moment of silence and honor all the firefighters, police officers, people and dogs who helped in NYC. #WENEVERFORGET911

I wish we could come together once again as we did after that awful day. Hope these next gen (9/12ers) people make it happen.

  • I was living on the East Coast the morning of 9/11 and I was finishing some school work as I watched the regular news. Suddenly, the lives of Americans everywhere changed. I sat in fear and disbelief at what unfolded that morning! I was a newlywed and my spouse was active duty military. I knew life would change and I knew I would never forget this day. This is my tribute to the many sacrifices on that day of attacks and for decades to come as families sent their loved ones overseas.
    Rachel
  • Today I weep and give thanks for all of the brave souls who were there that day. I wrap my arms around the loved ones of the lost and the ones who survived. I will always remember the helplessness I felt that day because I was nowhere nearby and could do nothing but watch in horror. I chose to show kindness to everyone I met that day, and I do my best to continue to do so every day. To all of the heroes who are no longer with us, and those who are still dealing with the aftermath of 9/11, I love you and I thank you.

  • Despite being only 9 years old I remember that day so vividly. Waiting and wondering if my dad would come home. The pain that I felt waiting for that call will haunt me for the rest of my life. I have visited the 9/11 memorial each time I visit the city to honor those who did not survive and to think of those families who lost a loved one(s). Such a tranquil place, a place for reflection. Although I am unable to be there today, unable to feel the names of those lost under my finger tips, I am thinking of you all, and your families.

  • Like most people, 9/11 forever changed my life. A day never passes that I don’t think about this horrible day. As bad as it was, it drove me to live my life better as a tribute to those that were taken away from us and strive to make a difference everyday I’m on this earth. It helped push me to join the Navy, becoming a firefighter and becoming a law enforcement officer during my career so that I could somehow or someway payback all our hero’s from that terrible day. I will NEVER forget what 9/11 means to, not just our country, but to our entire world and I will never give up doing good as a way to remember and honor everyone that’s ever felt scared, pain, or grief from what we all went through on 9/11/01.
    Patrick R.
  • We will NEVER FORGET those who lost their lives as victims and those first responders who gave their lives helping their neighbors in the 9/11 tragedy. God Bless all volunteers

  • Together we will never forget.

  • When I woke up on 9/11 I hadn't heard what had happened until I took my daughter to preschool. I was shocked and in total disbelief. I as many others watched in horror what happened that day and my heart just shattered. I will always honor and admire the many many heroes that day and the following days after. The faced courage in the face of evil and fear. They went forward when many people ran. I thank them every day
    Tricia S.
  • To the precious souls we tragically lost on this day 21 years ago, your memories live in on in our hearts forever. We honor your sacrifice and will always remember you all!

May God Bless you all.

  • I had gotten in my car at 630am for the short drive to work and heard the tragic news when I turned on the radio. In 2016, I was part of a group trip to NYC with one of the planned activities being a tour of the memorial, museum and the Freedom Tower. It's 100% true that when you see the names of the lost on the fountains you are affected in a way that cannot be put into words.
    Richard S.
  • To my beloved Kevin, Every day, for the last 21 years, you have been and always will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. I thank God for the times together.
    Sylvia C.
  • A Promise Kept. 21 years ago I was teaching U.S. History in California. I visited NYC a few months after 9/11 and hand delivered letters of support my students wrote to a member of the FDNY. He asked me then to ensure students of future generations never forget the sacrifices made. 21 years later, I am a high school principal and my students (who were all born after 9/11) hold a yearly remembrance, which includes placing of 2,977 flags on the front lawn of our campus to honor and remember the lives lost. It is important that we continue to teach our children the lessons of 9/11.

  • My dad was a hero on September 11th. No he wasn’t a police officer or firefighter. He was the fire marshal for his floor-the 87th floor in Tower 2. On 9/11 my dad successfully evacuated many people from his floor. He chose not to get on the elevator and leave because there were still some others in the office. My dad was a paraplegic & knew if the elevators didn’t work, his evacuation would be nearly impossible. He used a wheelchair so going down 87 flights of stairs was not an option. He let others get on what turned out to be the last elevator ride. Those in that elevator made it out alive. My dad didn’t. My dad, William Valcarcel, is a hero. He overcame a life full of obstacles & proved so many wrong. I miss him every day. I know he is watching over me & my family. He is the best guardian angel for my sons. I love you & I miss you dad.
    Melissa V.
  • NO day shall erase you from the memory of time. Cyril, you are a 9/11 Hero. Save me a seat with the good ones!

  • With gratitude to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum for memorializing those lost, in a dignified and meaningful way. Their lives and names will be remembered and honored by future generations in this hallowed space.

  • I will NEVER forget that devastating day. It was the first time in my life that I felt unsafe being on American soil. I hope my son NEVER has to experience that feeling. But the next day..... Amidst the devastation..... We came together. Not just as one nation under God, but as MANY nations, as other countries showed their support. We were kinder to one another. We loved our neighbors. We stood together in the face of adversity. We need to do this ALWAYS. We must NEVER FORGET.
    Stacey M.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • even though i wasn't alive during the september 11th attacks i've always been so deeply saddened by what happened to all those innocent lives lost that day to hate and pure evil. what happened wasn't any of their fault or anyones at all and yet now their life was cut short at the hands of something so horrible. every year i reflect on this and pray it never happens again. the city of new york, familes, friends of the victims have been so strong these past 21 years i applaud everyone whos been affected by this horrific event and have dealt with the sadness all these years. to have something so personal public is hard. if you ever need to talk about the events regardless of if you were there or not do talk to someone close to you. and never forget you're not alone, we wont forget any victims or what happened and we wont let hate win.
    Lola
  • Let this never happen again. To all the heroes on that day and the heroes after that day, THANK YOU.
    Brian C.
  • Today, and every day, we honor and remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost 21 years ago today. From cabin crew to FDNY and NYPD to office workers, each life lost is a life too many. Leaving behind a family, friends and loved ones. “No day shall erase you from the memory of time”. May we #NeverForget.

  • This is a tribute to my brother, Salvatore Gitto. He was a beloved husband to Angela, a wonderful father to Gregory and Stephen whom have both grown into incredible young men with the guidance and love of their mom. We will never forget that horrid day, and all the lives lost. We will always remember the good times and the family love we shared. We miss you Sal and we'll all be together someday.
    Susanne D.
  • We must never forget those we lost on 9.11. We must never forget the heroes who went in, never to return. We must never forget the day. I will never forget the images of that day. My heart is still broken.

  • Sept. 11th, 2001… a day my children and I will never forget. It was the day I lost my husband and my children lost their father. We think of him daily, sending out love to him and thanking him for always watching over us. We found our way to move forward. Always trying to honor his life by living our lives honorably, peacefully, with care for others, with care for the environment, and the world. My prayers go to all of those who lost loved ones and friends, as we did. And, my thanks go to all those who tried to help and who continue to work as heroes to mankind. I hope that the events of Sept. 11th are always remembered in our schools as part of our US history curriculum. The 9-11 Memorial and Museum are a huge part of that education for present and future generations. Sept. 11th…..We must never forget!!!
    Barbara M.
  • When I took my daughters and granddaughters to see the Memorial in 2014, we sorrowed over the tragic loss of life but were inspired by those who fought to keep the memory alive with this beautiful memorial. We can’t forget the experience!

  • I was in the 6th grade, Twenty one years ago tomorrow when we first learned of the cowardly attacks on the United States. Ironically, I was in my 6th grade U.S History class at the time . I remember watching with my class live as the second plane hit the tower as American history changed forever. I have the visions of both towers collapsing etched forever in my mind. Twenty one years later, as a 32 year old father of two young boys, we remember each year all those lost that fateful day in 2001. While my boys are just now old enough to begin to understand the true gravity of that day, History will be their guide. As we think back to that day, my thoughts and prayers continue to be with families of those lost, friends who loved them, and all whose lives were changed forever. My family had the honor to visit the 911 Memorial site this past summer. To be there, overlooking the Memorial Pool and the names of those lost was a sobering experience. There was so much sadness to be in the very spot of so much tragedy. I am thankful for the 911 Memorial and Museum for preserving the history of the darkest day in American history and keeping the memory of those lives lost alive for all to reflect and remember! May God bless you all and may God bless the United States of America. #wewillneverforget

  • I flew from California to be at the 20th anniversary of 9/11.  I was moved to tears many times over those three days by the love of people from all over the world, in their honoring of those that perished. God Bless the people that worked and died working the Pile to save lives and clear the wreckage.  May god Bless the volunteers and those that gave and continue to give of themselves from those days to now.  May God Bless the Bagpipe Brothers for dedicating so much of their lives to bring the dignity to each of the funerals they attended.  And most of all, may God Bless the Fireman, Police and Port Authority officers that made the ultimate sacrifice. I will always be grateful for the warm reception I received, being merely a witness to the 20th anniversary.

  • I will never forget 9/11 and those we lost and continue to lose. I have visited all of the Memorials and still find it difficult to understand how much hatred one must feel to take the lives of innocent people just going about their daily lives. I will never forget the tragedy and I will continue to honor all who gave their all.
    Sylvia
  • Together we will never forget.

  • Thank you for the work you do so that those lost, the heroes and the families of those affected are never forgotten. We came together as Americans then and I pray that bringing us back together as a country will not have to be another incident like this. We pay tribute so that we never forget we are a united country, a proud country and a strong America.

  • Tomorrow will be 21 years since that terrible time that so many people were lost in NYC at the towers, the pentagon, and on Flight 93. I have visited ground zero and Shanksville. PA. Beautiful tributes at both. I hope the younger generations learn of this day. We need to tell them. I pray that God will never let it happen again. Also that families of the fallen receive comfort knowing that we will never forget what happened.

  • It still kills me inside 21 years later to remember that tragic day when so many lives were taken by that cowardice act of terrorism. To those who lost their loved one that day and in years following due to that tragedy, God be with you and guide you as you remember. To those who risked their lives on that day and throughout the war that followed, thank you for your courage and selflessness to help your fellow man. FDNY... thank you brothers! John 15:13

  • I was a first-year teacher on September 11, 2001, and I will never forget that day. I was running copies in the office while my students were at PE. I thought the assistant principal was watching a movie, but I quickly realized it was real. I remember the sadness, grief, and shock of that day. I also remember how we came together as a nation in the days and weeks after. I remember the bravery of so many, too.

  • I remember so clearly that day when the world stood still. When the towers came down, my heart sank. How could 4 planes be hijacked! All those lives lost and the heros of flight 93. That evening, my grandson was born. My son, who was a firefighter, was torn between the tragic loss of lives and the birth of his first son. When my grandson graduated from high school, we took him to New York to see the memorial, museum, trip to the top of The Freedom Tower, and to Shanksville, Pennsylvania. He even got to meet firefighters at two locations in New York. Every year, he honors those that were lost on that day, and the 343 firefighters, as well as celebrating his birthday.

  • I was there and each year that goes by,, on this day, it feels like yesterday. I remember the blue sky but I also remember the silence of thousands of people running/ walking up the west side away from the fire and black smoke coming from the Towers.. it was surreal… everyone’s faces in a state of disbelief and confusion… We will all stand together and never forget. God bless all the families that lost loved ones and God bless everyone who have been and are still there to give them love and support.

  • I will never forget 9/11/2001, it was a rare day off from work and I was 5 months pregnant and my adopted mother was dying of cancer. I turned on the T.V. and was stunned to see the images, and then I watched the 2nd plane hit. I sat alone in tears and disbelief. June 2022 I went on a school trip with my youngest son (14) and we visited the memorial at the pentagon in D.C. and the 9/11 museum in N.Y,. I was moved to tears as we walked thru the museum and the memorial and saw the survivor tree and it was all so overwhelming and took me back to every emotion from 9/11/2001. I remember! I will make sure my kids remember! Gone but never forgotten!

  • Prior to September 11th 2001 I always felt I knew what “Patriotism” was all about, but really, I did not. In retrospect for me the word was little more than a vague notion of loving my country, dressed in imagery of three colors, flags, sparklers, and fireworks. In the days following September 11th 2001, at roughly the ripe old age of 35 years old, I ultimately came to understand the true essence of the word, and its beauty. Think back to the days after 9-11. Do you remember the flags everyone hung in your neighborhood? Do you remember the feeling of wanting to hug everybody? Do you remember the lump in your throat that appeared as you called everyone Brother and Sister? Do you remember feeling unified as a nation? And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea! (America the Beautiful) Truly, to this day I have never felt we were united as a nation like I felt we were in the days following September 11th. And as horrible as that day was, God gave us a gift in its wake – Brotherhood. Love one another.
    Sal

  • Like most, I will never forget September 11 and the tragic events of that horrific morning. To this day, when I look at the New York City skyline, I see a massive emptiness where the twin towers stood. I think of the many innocent women and men who went to work that day and never returned. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the families that lost a loved one and had their lives changed forever.
    Thomas
  • I was home on that bright and sunny day walking through my family room when I saw the news blast come on the TV. I lived In Mahwah, NJ at the time and was a Lieutenant on a volunteer ambulance corps in town. I immediately started to pack my bag to report to my building even before we were dispatched. We responded in 1993, therefore we would most likely go again. Not long after, we were at Liberty Park where we treated three patients, then went to Port Authority and the next morning to Ground Zero. What my crew and I did was minuscule to how hard those firemen and assorted volunteers worked to find some form of life, only to be disappointed. I will never forget all the images I saw those days, the disappointment I felt being unable to help more than I did and I still cry for those that lost their lives that day. A piece of me went with them that day. I will never forget!
    Debra
  • We will never forget... I remember that day as if it was yesterday.  Our countrymen should always remember to stand united, show kindness to others, and realize how lucky we are to live in the USA!

  • Although I wasn’t alive during this time, I give my most sincerest condolences to all those that have been taken to this day. But in times of grief and peril we all come together to form a new bond and never forget all that was taken, and rather than have our heads low to the ground we hold our hearts up high and give praise to all those who risked their lives to help our fellow citizens. Because not only are we all neighbors, friends, colleagues, but also family, so let us come together to remember that today on 2001, wasn’t a loss, but a reminder of how strong we all can be as a team. P.S. I’m no writer, and this may not be much, however I hope that I have contributed something that means something, and that I only wish peace and love.
    James

  • It is hard to believe it has been 21 years since 9/11 occurred. I will never forget the lives we lost on this tragic day. We must never forget that we need to remain united within our own country. Division causes these types of unfortunate events that are selfless and hurtful to innocent people. United we will conquer the bad and let the goodness of country shine through. Prayers for all those that lost their life on this day. God bless the USA.

  • Watching the horror at 10 years old change my life and led me to join the Marine Corps in 2010. In 2011 I was deployed to Afghanistan where we found out a that Bin Laden was killed. It was the best news we received. To those that lost their lives in the 9/11 and those that served and died you’ll always be remembered. GOD BLESS THE USA!!!

  • I was only a year old when the tragedy struck. I didn’t even comprehend the loss we had endured until much later. I never realized how so much changed, and how the world would never be the same. I vowed to never forget what happened. I vow to remember bravery of those who tried to prevent it.

  • We all supported each other, stayed together n of course were in touch with family. No one will ever forget. The number of people who loss their lives, n the families who couldn’t quite realize what happened to the USA. I feel strongly it should be taught in school. They thought they had won, but everyone in the USA helped one another. We are a unique country n most people will not forget.
    Mary C.
  • We will never forget. Ever. My heart goes out to the families of the victims and to the first responders that are and have been dying from sickness related to being onsite.
    Michele
  • I was born in 2004, nearly three years after 9/11. That fateful day is something that I heard about so many times growing up. When I was old enough, I educated myself on what happened. 9/11 is a day that should never be forgotten. It’s history, and ensures that all of the innocent souls lost remain with us. Words fail to express the emotion I feel every time I remember what happened, which is nothing compared to the emotions felt by the families and friends of those that died. Every year, on the anniversary, we remember 9/11, but it’s a date that should be remembered every day. Rest in peace to all those innocent souls lost that day, you will never be forgotten. The unity and togetherness that was shown after 9/11 shows that love will always out beat hatred. Love will always win. Never forget 9/11, you’re always in my thoughts.
    Abigail

  • I was a Red Cross Disaster Spiritual Care leader supporting those at the WTC site, the FAC, D-Mort, T-Mort and Staten Island landfill. I had the incredible honor of coming alongside so many responders, from big Frank S. the crane operator, to Fr. John D who was a non-stop firefighter chaplain, to Sr Laurentilla the Nun, and some of the finest holders of grief and authentic colleagues ever. We hold your stories and your memory forever! We will Never forget you!

  • I will never forget that day as many gathered around their TV’s in disbelief. Some could not watch. We came together in the nation as one after that, and we all thanked our lucky stars and the God of this land for the free country of the United States of America. • I reside in Canada and watched on TV the horrors of 9/11. I will NEVER forget how my heart seem to stop when I saw the utter devastation. I still have those moments when I look back at that day with compassion and great sadness. I have visited 'Ground Zero' three times as well as Shanksville Pa. and The Pentagon memorials. How do I thank all those who lost their lives and those who rushed in to save lives - everyone of them: heroes.

  • I pledge never to forget what happened that day..9/11/2001. I watched the towers being built. I watched them coming down..but on tv. I visited my brother when he worked there and was notified when my cousin died from cancer after being on the clean-up crew a few years later. I cried then and I cry now. So many lives lost. I was born & raised in Manhattan. I served our Country. I mourn. Keep our Country safe. God Bless America

  • Forever in our hearts and never to be forgotten. We will always remember - near or far from NYC. Sincere thank you to all who helped in many varying ways - then, now, and the time in between.

  • I’m from Chicago, and on that fateful morning I had the TV on while getting ready to leave my home. I saw a plane hit one of the Towers and thought is that a movie? Realizing our country was under attack and that our people were trapped inside the burning towers I could do nothing but cry and pray. In 2019 I took a trip to NY and visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum. The grounds are sacred, and I was humbled to be where so many of our brethren lost their lives. May all those who lost their lives RIP. I will NEVER forget.

  • We will never forget. I remember I was on 10 grade when the attack occurred, we lost so many near and dear ones on that day. May their soul rest in eternal peace. May God continue to bless people of the United States. Shaunak from West Bengal, India.

My fullest and deepest respect, salute and tribute to those innocent people, fellowship, victims and responders. 9/11 is a lifetime learning lesson, an everyday wake up call. It has also taught me about true humanity and courageous. Never Forget, No Day Shall Erase You From The Memory Of Time, In Darkness We Shine Brightest.

  • Teammates, This year marks the 21st anniversary of the tragic events on September 11, 2001. The attacks strained our Nation's resolve while rejuvenating our spirit of dedicated service. We will never forget the 2,977 lives lost on 9/11 and their families who have endured the ultimate sacrifice. Supported by a resilient Nation, along with my mother Jane, my daughter Bethany and I continue to be extraordinarily grateful and honored to serve alongside you. As we recognize the ever-evolving needs of our Nation's finest, the Operation Teammate mission continues to inspire military children globally. Thank you for your continued service to our great Nation! “Proving that our resolve is much stronger than hate, that is why we are flying the flags.” T. • I was at work with TWA at terminal 5 JFK. My guys came in and told me about the first hit. I could see the Trade Center it was terrible. I spent the next 10 months representing American Airlines at the recovery. The FBI and NY police were great to work with. Some of the things all the workers saw will never be forgotten. You can be proud of the way remains were handled it will always be in my heart. The family survivors need to always be remembered their pain was horrible. We also had the FBI Pastor to talk to

  • I will never forget that bright blue Tuesday in college, not thinking one bit about the wicked world one moment…and knowing what I had to do the next. Having been badly injured in a car wreck that august I couldn’t enlist right away. So I finished my senior year, took my senior trip to ground zero, and watched the ceremonial closing of Ground Zero. I enlisted in September of 2002 and had the good fortune of running into Thor Johannessen of the FDNY at Reception at Ft. Sill….before departing for the War on Terror… That’s day changed my life and I think about it a lot, and am now teaching my kids about what happened…you have my word I WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

  • This past year I decided to run a 5k every day for one of the fire fighters who died on 9/11 plus Welles Crowther who died in the south tower 1+343. I started last year on 9/11 and finished on August 20th. 344 straight days of running and remembering. We made a promise to Never Forget.. Keeping that Promise everyday!

  • My dearest son August 26th would have been your 46th birthday. In the blink of an eye another day another week another month another year another birthday. The year 2022 yet I’m stuck in 2001. So I’ve been wishing lately that everyone would keep their eyes open. Appreciate the people that are there for you in this life. Don’t take anyone or anything for granted. Be the best you can be not just for your family and friends but for yourself too. I don’t know if we have one life or many lives. I’m not even sure if there is life after death. I do know quality time is important. Quality time with family and friends before they’re gone or we’re gone.

  • I flew from Eugene, Oregon to the United Flight 93 site to help identify the passengers. I will never allow United 93 to be forgotten. Someday I hope I can get back to the site. I carry those passengers and their loved ones in my soul every singe day.

  • The world changed on that day. A unreal event took those towers down and changed everyone's life . Never forget .

  • I was only five years old when 9/11 occurred. I only first saw footage from the History Channel five years later. I’m autistic, and it can be hard to understand some things for me. 9/11 was one of them. Every time I saw anything related to 9/11, I would realize that it was bad, but my mind was having a hard time. That was until I saw my adopted granddad and how he reacted the after the 10th anniversary. He was a fire chief from Sarasota, Florida who moved to my neck of the woods in 1993. As I watched him listening to our pastor’s sermon, everything 9/11 related started to click and became clearer than crystal to me. My adopted granddad, Fire Chief Bill Drymon, made me finally understand the full nightmare that was 9/11. He passed away in March 2014, but what I’ve just shared with y’all was the best and most impactful thing he ever did for me.
    Allison B.
  • I remember preparing to exit the house reroute to work when my wife called from her job to tell me that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center... the rest of that day and what unfolded ripped a hole inside of me. When the numbers started to come in I was heartbroken and cried out in prayer for the families of the thousands of victims who had been murdered. At the same time the pride for NYFD and NYPD as well as the volunteers gave me hope. I WILL NEVER, EVER, FORGET!
    Harold H.
  • May all of the victims of 9/11 rest in peace. Gone too soon. My brother, Dennis, and I visited the 9/11 Museum and it is a museum like no other. The reverence and quiet that pervade the halls are a tribute to all who lost their lives. God bless them. We will never forget.
    Patricia C.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • I send my tribute to all the firefighters and police that saved the lives that day
    Tracy W.
  • I was in my office cafeteria when someone said a plane hit the wtc and minutes later, the same person ran in and said a 2nd plane hit it's terrorist attacks. We saw from the 19th floor on 3rd Ave. & 55th the smoke all the way downtown. I will never forget that day and all we've lost! May the souls rest in peace and until we meet them again.
    Concetta B.
  • In remembrance of all who were lost that day, and in remembrance of those who resolutely went to battle in Iraq and Afghanistan and paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom…..may we live so that our lives are worthy of their sacrifice.
    Amanda
  • I will never forget! God bless America, our troops and our first responders. Rest in eternal peace to all who lost their lives due to this horrific day.

  • As a first responder this day is forever etched in my memory.  Never Forget 9/11
    Roy W.
  • I remember the day like it was yesterday. The shock and fear lasted all day. Our eyes never strayed from the tv. We listened to the news trying to find out why this would happen in our country. I will never forget that day.
    Sandy B.
  • I pledge never to forget the men, women and children, who’s lives were taken on 09/11/2001.
    Becky R.
  • This message and tribute is personal for me as I was one of many who witnessed that tragic day. I worked for Morgan Stanley, I was late that day but not late enough to see the tale of the plane that hit 1 WTC and then what came after. It’s still etched in my memory as if it happened yesterday and so this is a reminder for me, every year on 9/11 to never ever forget that even though I survived, many didn’t and for that I will always hold on to their names, their memories and honor them and their families always
    Nancy M.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • My solute to those men and women that died bravely on the day. these 2977 men, women and children wrote their names in the human history as heroes.

  • The world will never forget 9/11/2001, nor will we Americans forget all of the people we lost. We didn’t know them, but we loved them and they felt like family. We’ve mourned them for over two decades, with the loss of them fresh in our hearts and the tears ever-fresh on our cheeks. May they all Rest In Peace with the knowledge that they’ll live in our hearts forever. #neverforget

  • I will never forget.

  • when i saw all the firefighters, cops, EMS racing to the towers, I knew i wanted to be a first responder too, so here i am 22 years later, serving with my hometown volunteer fire department RIP my fellow responders who did everything they could to save the lives of people they didnt even know.
    Michael L.
  • I will never forget the terrible tragedy that ended the lives of so many. I will never forget the stories I have learned over the years. I pass them on to my daughter so that these lives live on forever in our memories.
    Amber H.
  • I was a police officer working patrol on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that horrible day. We were put on high alert that day which meant twelve hour days. We stayed on alert for a few months. I prayed every day that a miracle would happen and they would find a lot of survivors in a large void, but that prayer went unanswered. My heart is with every first responders family as well as every civilians family family that were murdered that day and for the 200 plus first responders who have died from ground zero related illnesses. The death toll from that day rises every year. My prayers get longer every year. So I am asking my fellow Americans to NEVER FORGET THOSE WHO HAVE DIED ON THAT HORRIBLE DAY AS WELL AS THOSE WHO HAVE DIED OR ARE DYING SINCE THEN.
    Kevin C.
  • Two simple words.... NEVER FORGET !! In a time of uncertainty to this day I look to the sky every day & night & the what if it was still happening & the dreams of saving lives from that tragedy. I actually did have PTSD because of the fact that it wasn’t supposed to happen & the fear of it when years gone by . Since 9/11 I’ve always felt that life is so precious & valuable
    Diane M.
  • I will forever remember that day. Thinking about all the innocent people and their families will never be forgotten. It is painful and sad. You will be always in us people, in our hearts forever. The flowers grow on the ground, the fresh air runs throughout our faces and we look to the sky and say. Hello my friends. I pray for you today and every day. Watch us from up there and keep us safe. Do never allow this to happen again.
    Sabrina H.
  • Together we will never forget.

    Eric E.
  • I visited the memorial and museum in 2018 — it’s beautiful and touching but at the same time incredibly sad to see all of the victims. There is so much to see and continue to learn from — I believe it is necessary to go and learn and honor all of the innocent victims that were murdered that fateful day. May they all continue to Rest In Peace — Never Forget
    John T.
  • Survivor of Tower One, I am. This catastrophic event should never be forgotten!! Future generations must learn of these vicious attacks that was placed on the United States soil on 9/11. God Bless all the Firemen, Law Enforcement and all First Responders, including brave Civilians who stepped up to rescue and save lives. You were all Braver than Brave itself, what you all were up against. God bless you all and God Bless America.

  • Twenty one years feels like an eternity and yet it also feels like yesterday. An entire generation has grown up in a post- 9/11 world... Which is all the more reason to never forget.
    Taylor
  • On that very sad day I was up getting ready for work. As a US Postal Carrier and had the morning news on and watched it from the beginning to end as long as I could. I remember saying how many folks were still in those two towers. It was such a long day not hearing anything else. Couldn’t wait to get home to see a update. Watching as all those brave first responders tried to help anyway they could. It made me proud to see that . I know over time we are losing more and more first responders. But, as you read this I’ll always remember and will never forget. Be safe and stay safe, always Don
    Donald H.
  • I can still remember that day as if it was only yesterday. We always take a moment to remember the ones we lost that day and their family's. We shall ALWAYS continue to come together as one to keep our country safe. The days following we were so united and caring for one another as we had never been before. That is another legacy of the 9/11 generation. We will NEVER forget them, or their legacy they left behind, a United nation that stood up as one. Like many we were stuck to the news and TV all day. That night our church called a special prayer service for our nation in mourning. It seems like only yesterday that our world fell apart before our eyes. May we never forget those men, women and children who lost their lives on 9/11.
    Steven D.
  • I was living in new England with my grandparents when it happened thus I shall never forget 9/11/2001.
    Michael R.
  • I was in the South Tower when both towers were hit. We evacuated and all in my company got out to safety. I will never forget going down the stairs with all the people evacuating at the same time.
    John O.
  • That day was heart wrenching and nothing but horror and disbelief. To all the families that lost loved ones my heart goes out to each and one of you. To the correspondents that spent endless hours and days down on ground zero kudos to you. You were the ones that held everything together that day. A big thank you for your service during those days and continue to these days.
    Jennifer H.
  • I will NEVER FORGET my Cousin FF RUBEN DAVID CORREA of Engine 74 & all the FALLEN HEROES of 9/11 & Beyond. May they all REST IN PEACE & may GOD Bless their Families.
    Edwin M.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • I think of the heroes on all 4 planes, all of the people in the world trade towers that just went to work and never returned home, the heroes that in and went up and tried to preserve lives, the men and women in the pentagon, who again just went to work and never returned, and lastly to the men and women who came to help with the cleanup effort and have perished with cancers, pneumonia‘s, and other illnesses. You are always in my heart. I will never forget you. When I have a bad day I think to myself it could always be worse, and I try to live my best life for the ones who never had a choice this day
    Sarah S.

  • I was proudly born in New York City. The day of 9/11 is a day that I can recall just like yesterday. I got to visit the two World Trade Center towers 2 to 3yrs before the events of 9/11. When the events of 9/11 happened I was starting seventh grade and being proudly from NYC it affected me and still does. Now as a passionate educator it is important to teach students who are growing up in a post 9/11 world.
    Alex
  • I will never forget that day - how that clear blue sky became so full of fear and smoke and death - and how so many heroes rose from the ashes and helped one another! I wish our Nation could be that united again - we are one people and should all stand strong against all hatred and fear!
    Marc B.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • Watching these events as an adult now.. When it happened, I was 16 and heard it on the radio, then on the tv ..completely surreal and devastating I am Canadian and I assure you this was an event that affected the world forever It’s important to pass on for historical purposes but mostly for the people who died hero’s, and suffered unfairly to an act of pure evil The world needs now to focus on peace on that dark day and everyday moving forward I will never forget America
    Amanda
  • I will never forget as I was there. My sister and I worked for AON Risk Services. I was on the 92nd Floor and she was on the 103rd. My life changed that day as I made it out and she did not. I was talking to a coworker showing her a picture of my adopted son when, what looked like a fire ball coming at our window, I ran and got onto the nearest staircase. I was shaking uncontrollably. What I saw was the North Tower that was hit. As I approached around the 70th floor two men saw how terribly shaken I was and stood by my side. Stopping with me on landings when I needed to stop and would not leave me. By the 60th or so floor there was a terrible explosion and that was our building being hit. They both looked at each other and said to me you want to see your son again we HAVE TO GET OUT OF THIS BUILDING. They took me arm for arm and dragged me down to the bottom. Gave me to a firefighter and off they went. I wasn't injured so I was basically on my own. I was 2 blocks away and the South Tower that I was in started to collapse and I thought I would never see my beautiful son again. Sparing all the details after that, I finally made it home at midnight and could not wait to hold my baby. Only to find out the next day my sister never made it out. My heart is broken I lost not only my sister but my co-worker and best friend. My son grew up and in 2019, right after high school, joined the Army because of 9/11. Please remember my sister, Donna Marie Giordano and NEVER FORGET WHAT OUR COUNTRY ENDURED THAT DAY.
    Elaine B.
  • I had just turned 32 and was working in downtown Houston. My parents lived outside of DC. I was the one that told them what was happening. They cleared out the city portion of Houston because we were a port city with lots of sky scrapers. I was dating a fireman. I vividly remember the footage of the fallen towers and the rescue beeps coming from fallen first responders. I couldn’t sleep. I was so worried about those trapped and injured. I felt so helpless. But I did feel a huge sense of pride with how our country came together to help each other. I still think of all that happened that day. Tho my family was ok. My country was hurting. And that was painful for all of us.
    Shannon
  • I remember waking up the morning of 9/11 in total confusion. Having worked night shift the night before I did not wake up until after the towers had actually fallen. The world seemed to be turned upside down. I did not know anyone on any of the planes, or anyone who worked in New York or Washington, but, like the rest of the nation, I was impacted that day. I was shocked, then angry, then sad. However, one of the strongest impressions that I remember from the events of that day was the love that we felt towards each other as Americans. In my lifetime, I could remember very few times when I felt so close to all my American brothers and sisters. It is sad that it took an event like that to brought so many of us together that otherwise not feel so close, and it is even sadder that we did not maintain it very long. I long for that sense of unity and I pray that it doesn't take another 9/11 to make it happen.
    Matthew
  • I saw a beautiful late summer blue sky yesterday. Even though it just one week short of 21 years after 9/11, that blue sky still reminds of 9/11 and I call those blue sky days a 9/11 sky.
    Terry T.
  • I remember walking out that morning to brilliant blue skies thinking what a beautiful day....until the first plane hit! I will never forget the souls who perished that day and are still leaving this earth today due to illness. Thank you to all the responders and volunteers. In my work at the pile, the courage and compassion I witnessed should be applauded. We were all NYers unnited as one that day! NEVER FORGET!
    Maria G.
  • Looking at the blue sky on Sept 11th., I felt I was looking for answers. How could something so horrific be happening on such a beautiful day. Black smoke and flames engulfed New York's iconic skyline and the beautiful blue sky almost began disappearing in front of the world's eyes. Watching in horror, smoke, flames, flying debris. It was in conjunction with the most awful scene of all. Priceless soles taking their own lives to escape an unfathomable alternative. We all watched in complete disbelief, and after all these years the scene never seems to lose its tragic potency. Positioned against such a beautiful blue sky, was a true life paradox playing out for the world to see. I lost my soulmate that day, the person I was supposed to navigate the world with, and my own mind can't ever truly come to terms with that. A beautiful soul, lost on such a beautiful September morning. On days when the sky is as blue as Sept 11th, I'm reminded of how I never got to say goodbye, I never got to hear his voice one last time, to tell him how much I loved him, and to let him know one last time, life wouldn't work without him. How life can change so much in one morning, I'll never truly understand, but I'm always reminded by a blue sky that it can and it did. Love you Robbie! Colie
    Nicole C.
  • Never forget the blue and brillant sky. Beautiful day with some white clouds.
    Dillan R.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • We travelled from England to New York to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. 9/11 started out so lovely with the clearest, bluest sky we'd ever seen. Then everything changed so suddenly. Each year back here at home in England we remember all those who were killed and also the bravery showed by so many people. Our hearts will forever be linked to the people of New York because of that day. God bless you all.
    Steve and Marje
  • Will never forget everyone that lost their life that day especially a dear member of my own family.  May God bless the NYPD and FDNY.
    Barbara W.
  • I remember the day of bluest skies, I had just dropped off my kids as school, my husband was on a plane to his weekly assignment. I watched the TV news and my heart went cold. I waited like all others in the US that day, for news of loved ones and their safety. It came for me, sadly not for all. RIP
    Heather B.
  • How can I forget the beauty of that clear no clouds blue sky where I witnessed the tragic events followed I was on 48 th floor of the north tower Let us Never Forget
    George M.
  • May all those who perished RIP and may all those who responded to that horrific tragedy be kept in everyones prayers.
    Mark H.
  • We will NEVER forget. My heart breaks for the thousands of people who lost their lives that day and how they were abrubtly taken away from their families. May they all Rest In Peace. No words can ease the pain, but know that they are in our prayers. To the first responders who ran in while everyone else was attempting to run out. God Bless you for putting yourselves in harms way to rescue your fellow human beings. Thank you and God Bless,
    Elisa C.
  • THE HUDSON AT SUNSET (From: “In the Aftermath- 9/11 Through a Volunteer’s Eyes') a blue silk sash encircling a little girl's dress, the fireman's parade uniform a gray heron; futile sentry guarding the water's edge, ash from burning steel drifting on the tide green satin sheets descending from a hotel window, oil-slicked remnants of a crushed taxi white cellophane ribbons twisting through the wreckage, shards of molten paper blanketing the sky No. A black, moonless crater. The veil shielding the widow's eyes.
    Beth M.
  • Together we will never forget.

  • There are days in all of our lives that we will remember forever. This was one of those days, I was horrified and couldn't believe something like that was really happening to us. God Bless the USA

  • We will never forget that day. The beautiful blue sky and then the tragic events that happened afterward. All those beautiful people and rescuers who lost their lives and all those who were waiting for their loved ones to come home. All the unity felt among ALL the people, not like it is today. May the loved ones rest in peace, the survivors find peace and may God bless America.

  • My daughter Emma and I visited the 9/11 Museum in July 2021. Emma was born in 2006, 4 years plus after that awful day. We were moved at the scale of the museum and all its artifacts. I remember that Tuesday morning in September 2001 so vividly. It is hard to believe that 20 years have passed. I served in the US Army from 2006-2009 and deployed to Iraq in 2008. I explained to Emma the significance of 9/11 and what it meant and still means to our nation. I explained to her what it was like to live through that time and what the nation experienced in the days, weeks, and months that followed. Almost 3000 people lost on that day. May their memory be a blessing.

  • Such a terrible loss. I will never forget that sad day. I have six scrapbooks which contain newspaper clippings for one year of related 9/11 events.

  • No day shall ever erase you...  And some of us will never look up at the sight of a plane the same way as before our innocence was forever changed on that crystal blue morning.  We will continue to shed light on evil, continue to remember them All with profound respect and love.

  • I was only 12yrs old but I remember that morning and the events that transpired so vividly. You wiggled my toes as you always do as a way of saying bye before heading to work at 5am. The morning sky was so bright. The blue sky kept me awake as I dragged myself to school. In the middle of class I felt a this heavy pain in my chest and a burning feeling in my stomach. I shrugged it off not thinking anything of it and thats when i saw all the teachers run out in the hallway and parents started picking their kids up from their classes. I waited in agony till almost everyone was gone and when I was told someone came.to get me, I felt the pressure in my chest ease until i saw it wasn't you. 21 years later later I am 1 yr older than you and have a family of my own. I never told her but my 9 yr old daughter wiggles my toes to wake me up in the morning. She has been doing that since she was 3yrs old and it brings me so much happiness that was ripped from me 21 yrs ago. All the little moments we had and all the lessons I learned from you, I will never forget. I love you Mom with all my heart

  • I vividly remember watching it happen in disbelief, I later took a trip to NYC to see the memorial and as much as I could take in from the day. Being a retired firefighter, I was at a loss for words and feelings at the 2 pools! It's as if I could feel the loss in my heart. NEVER will forget this!

  • Together we will never forget.

  • We will never forget Herman Sandler and all of the other murdered souls from the Towers and from UAL93 and the Pentagon. We were living in Switzerland when our daughter called us from 5th Ave and 12th. Never forget.
    Eleanor S.
  • I remember the true blue sky and soft breeze on my way to work at 2WTC. The plaza was being set up for entertainment at lunchtime and I was planning who I would ask to go with me to enjoy the music. I loved working there. I survived and hope that my actions and life since have honored those who died to save me. I have tried to honor the fireman who carried me to safety and Rick Rescorla who taught me how to get out. I will Never Forget.......

  • 21 years later, remembering our family friend, Kalyan Sarkar, a Port Authority Engineer, who died in the North Tower on 9/11.  Sending love & prayers to his wife and children.

  • Sept 11, 2001 A glorious morning – perfect blue skies, sun shining with a feel of the last days of summer in the air. Soon overshadowed by a plume of black smoke around the Twin Towers as I traveled on the M Train (elevated with full view of Downtown, NYC) to work at 2 Lafayette Street. Passengers started to chatter - a plane hit the 1st Tower – some, said, impossible - how could a plane fly that low – who would give a pilot that permission. Then, we witnessed the 2nd plane hit the 2nd Tower – a fireball before our eyes. Surreal. I did not want to believe it – I could not believe it. The M Train proceeded to Manhattan, and I got off at Chambers Street only to be greeted by the National Guard. I still proceeded to the office building – to my office and eventually to underneath my desk when the 1st tower to fall shook this building & it is several blocks away. My sister Chris came looking for me. She worked in a building to the right of the Twin Tower Plaza. She was witness to far worse, yet she came looking for me and demanded I leave work/building. I was frozen. My hero and a hero to her staff – she went throughout the building she was in to tell people get out and walk north and proceeded to go to another company’s building on Broadway and tell staff there, as well, get out and walk north. We proceeded to leave the building with my co worker Harriet. Upon exiting we were witness to a wall of black smoke – we could not even see the Brooklyn Bridge & we thought the Brooklyn Bridge would be our rescue home and out of the city. We headed north on Broadway only soon to be witness to the 2nd tower falling. I have chills & tears writing this. We saw people covered in white-like soot – emotionless, yet, with determination to escape… to seek safety… Chris, Harriet, and I initially walked to friends, who lived on or near the Lower East Side (?) – they provided comfort, shelter, drink, and food until we knew we could walk over the Williamsburg Bridge. When we arrived on the other side of the WB Bridge, we were greeted by a community of concerned citizens handing out bottles of water…. again, tears flow thinking of that moment of unity and care. Chris, Harriet and I were all blessed to be reunited with family and friends on the evening of Sept 11, 2001. 9/11 is never to be forgotten. We cherish the lives lost, the heroes, and their families….always.

  • I do remember how beautiful September 11, 2001 was and I also remember how awful September 10, 2001 was. I cam out of the doctor’s office and the sky was gray, it was cold and very windy. I will always remember the contrast of those two days. On Separate 11 after we knew all that had happened, our office closed, I went home and put our flag out and I heard a plane flying overhead, it must have been a military plane because by then all commercial flights had been grounded. I remember I raised my fist to the sky and proclaimed to those who would try to destroy our country that they were \* \* *! Six months later my husband and I were in New York City working with the Salvation Army helping feed the first responders at the food tent. We made some life long friends there.

  • Sunny days seem to hurt the most I wear the pain like a heavy coat I feel you everywhere I go I see your smile, I see your face I hear you laughing in the rain I still can't believe you're gone It ain't fair you died too young Like a story that had just begun But death tore the pages all away God knows how I miss you All the hell that I've been through Just knowing no one could take your place Sometimes I wonder who you'd be today Would you see the world, would you chase your dreams Settle down with a family I wonder what would you name your babies Some days the sky's so blue I feel like I can talk to you I know it might sound crazy It ain't fair you died too young Like a story that had just begun But death tore the pages all away God knows how I miss you All the hell that I've been through Just knowing no one could take your place Sometimes I wonder who you'd be today Today, today, today Today, today, today Sunny days seem to hurt the most I wear the pain like a heavy coat The only thing that gives me hope Is I know I'll see you again someday Someday, someday

  • I remember looking up at the sky that September day in awe of its brilliant blue. A brilliant blue of quiet serenity extending above us.It seemed to encompass the day. Suddenly we learned what was happening to change forever our world of brilliant blue. Gray Ash and the blackness of smoke came. We remember lives lost....we will always remember... always.

  • I worked across the street at Duetsche Bank and will never forget...looking out the window after the first plane hit (not yet knowing it was a plane) and there was paper everywhere. Grabbed my bag and even though they were telling us to stay put, everything in my body said 'you need to get out'. Walked down from the 23rd floor and made to our 2nd floor lobby just as the 2nd plane hit. For a while they wouldn't let us out of the building, but then as people demanded they opened the doors, we went out....to this day I remember as vividly as it was yesterday, walking out onto the street and seeing a dusty & torn louis vuitton duffel bag in the middle of the street and asking why someone would leave their bag, not yet understating this bag wasn't left, I regret not picking up this bag now, not knowing if perhaps the family of the person it belonged to ever received anything back of their loved ones. For the past 21 years on 9/11 I go to a Memorial service to remember all those lost and their families. My son was 1 and my daughter was not yet born. I think of all the wonderful moments they have missed with their loved ones and definitely try not to take those moments with my family for granted myself. I will never forget, I will never forget

  • My wife and I live in Albany, NY. I am a Viet Nam Era Air Force Veteran and she an Army National Guard veteran. We passionately love America. 9/11 was a beautiful, sunny day and I had just returned from getting a cup of coffee. I turned on the TV a little after 9 AM and wondered why the NBC Morning Show was still broadcasting. Its hosts were speaking in hushed tones and I could see, in the background, black smoke pouring from one of the Twin Towers. At first I thought I was watching a discussion about a horror movie, wondering what its title was and who did the superb special effects. I quickly learned that this was no horror movie but a real life drama unfolding. An airliner had struck one of the Twin Towers. For the life of me, I could not fathom why, with 360 degrees of sky available, could such a thing happen. Did it have an overwhelming steering problem? No sooner did I complete my thought when on the screen I saw a plane strike the other tower in a violent explosion. Shocked, I screamed out to my wife, 'It's a terrorist attack against the United States using planes as missiles. We've got to ground all planes! Soon after came the Pentagon hit and the PA crash. It was all a diabolical plot by 19 young, hateful middle east terrorists who hurt the overwhelming good will of their countrymen and sowed the seeds of war. The rest is painful history, images, phone calls, messages and stories. What got to me most was the jumpers, forced to choose one horrifying death over another, the searing grief of those suddenly left behind, and the national and international grief that connected us all to the friends and loved ones left behind, in a human circle of love. Sadly, there continue to be ongoing deaths from Ground Zero (GZ) toxicity. America was never the same and the need for vengeance became a path to misguided war. I visited GZ two weeks later and wrote that the smoldering, twisted steel girders reminded me of gnarled, broken fingers desperately seeking help from Heaven. 9/11 galvanized NYC producing untold numbers of sung and unsung heroes, primarily the firefighters and first responders. Many of them heroically and selflessly gave their lives to save the lives of many others. They made a positive difference and in the process earned unending love, admiration and a permanent debt of gratitude, 9/11 is seared into my mind forever. May God Bless America.
    Marakis T.
  • I will never, ever forget that day. I was at the hospital with my daughter. My second grandchild was born between the first and second attack on the towers. My daughter named her Destiny. The run of emotions that went through me that day were like no other. I wept for those lost in the towers and I wept tears of joy for the life God blessed us with that day. I will never understand how human beings could do such a thing to other human beings. After all, that's what we all are, no matter the color of our skin, our traditions, our way of life, the food we eat or our religion. We are all just human beings. So why must we hate each other? Let's stop the hate and come together again in honor of all those who lost their lives that tragic day. Make their deaths really meaningful.

    Gloria and Tony B.
  • I told my boss on our way to work on 9/11 my dad would have been 89 that day. I always think of him on his birthday. We got to work and the 1st plane had hit. I called mom who worked for the American Red Cross at a local military base and the 2nd plane hit. It seemed like the world was moving in slow motion as the day progressed . I will never forget all those who lost their lives and the first responders who worked endless days and nights to rescue survivors and recover those who had fallen. You will always be my heroes and never forgotten.
    Karen P.
  • We will 'Always Remember' God bless America, keep us safe, and forever strong and independent!!

  • Together we will never forget.

  • I remember everything about that day, I will never forget. What started out as a beautiful morning ended tragically and abruptly for so many. We pray for their souls. We became united that day, everyone was a New Yorker. We were comforted by the kind acts of others. It shouldn't take a tragedy to unite folks. We miss you Ignat. Paul searched for you as the towers were falling. 20+ years later I take comfort in memories of you. Among many things you were our designated family photographer. I am so grateful to have your photographs. I look at them often which brings tears of joy and sorrow.

  • The memory that stays with me is the quietness of the days that followed. No planes in the bright blue skies. No sports happening, but life had to go on as if everything was normal. We still had jobs to do, mine working with children. The only sound was the news on television re-playing the sights and sounds of that day. Eerie quietness.
    Diane H.
  • While I miss my brother all the time, this time of year he is especially in my thoughts. All or our lives have been diminished by the sensless taking of his.

  • As in New York; the day dawned bright and brilliant blue in Wisconsin. Our daughter Andrea, on the first business trip of her career had arrived in New York shortly before midnight on the 10th and at 8:46 a.m. she was at work on the 92nd floor of the North Tower. She was on the phone with a co-worker in Chicago describing her view of the Statue of Liberty and the brilliant blue skies. We never heard from her again. We traveled to New York to find her and during those frantic dark days, we were surrounded with compassion, concern and offers of assistance. At every step in our journey to find our Andrea, fireman, police, and ground zero workers surrounded us with kindness. We have traveled back to NY frequently over the years. New York City has become our second home. In the shadows of the towers we gather with our NY family of friends, all of us bound together by the atrocity of 9/11, to remember and honor our Andrea, all of those lost and all those still suffering. In our deepest despair, when it was natural to question God; we found him in New York. Thank you New York. .

  • The sky was perfectly blue and it was the first day of pre-school for our two children. We had plans to shop for back to school clothes when we got home from work. A kiss good bye.... We will never forget

  • I was an active law enforcement officer on September 11, 2001. My family and I were actually on vacation when it occurred and I watched it live on television. We cut our vacation short because it just didn't feel right to be on vacation after that day. I returned to work and emergency 12-hour shifts. Standing on the roof of our station house with a shotgun looking skyward for days on end is something that I'll never forget. I joined the 9/11 Museum after my first visit because I wanted to contribute so that we can help others to 'Never Forget.'

  • I am a proud New Yorker and hail from beautiful Warwick, NY in the Hudson Valley. The events that unfolded on that day are still as vivid in my mind as if it was yesterday. I am so proud of my city and New Yorkers on how they responded to the horrific events showing the rest of the nation and the world on how to come together and be galvanized as a whole and what it means to love and support your neighbor and strangers alike. God bless all of the lives lost on that fateful day and may they all rest in internal peace!!! God Bless America!!!

  • That September day will forever be seared in my memory. Despite the horrible tragedy of that day, New Yorkers came together helping their fellow citizens by donating blood, preparing meals and of course, working the “pile”. We must never forget the brave men and women of the NYFD, NYPD, Port Authority and countless others who gave their lives to save others.

  • I was 17 years old when 9/11 happened. To this day I remember every minute I sat in front of the TV and was just shocked. The lives that have been taken must never be forgotten and should always be cherished and honored.

  • I remember that morning like it was yesterday. Watching the horrific scenes unfold on the news was worse than a nightmare.  I drove out to Weehawken to see the lights that were put in place of where the Twin Towers once stood and my heart broke thinking of the many innocent lives that were taken that dreadful time. I will never forget that day.

  • That morning I was playing golf and yes it was a magnificent blue sky. The club came out and asked us to all leave the course. I am a first responder, when I saw what happened, I grabbed my gear and ran down immediately to what looked like a war so. The smell and dust I will never forget. I worked there several weeks. The most wonderful (if that’s possible) that I remember driving up the west side home late and tired and the people all on the side of the road cheering us. I cried every time home
    Tania G.
  • I remember it well, I commented to my husband that morning on how beautiful the sky was.  The sadness is still within me.

  • You will not be forgotten.....

  • To the souls that passed away that they, their rescuers that also lost their lives, the families that they all left behind and to the brave rescue teams that have since lost their lives to the toxic smoke that they had to breathe while looking for survivors, no we will never forget you and you will all be with God. No one must ever forget...ever.

  • I was on the subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn and when I came out saw pieces of paper in the sky. I still remember all the families searching for their loved ones days later. When I walk by the memorial site on my way to work 20 years later, I know I will never forget the feeling of loss, and admiration for those who fought to protect us.

  • We lost our only Son, our only child that morning. Keith was a Paramedic with NYPH. He and his partner, Mario Santoro were dispatched there soon after the first plane struck. At just about 9.00am that morning I was able to get through to Keith, Keith said that he was down there and there were many injured. Told him to be safe and would see him at dinner. That was the last time I spoke with my Son. My wife and I miss him everyday,
    Kenneth
  • Not a day goes by that I don’t think of that fateful day. And not a day goes by that I don’t think of you, Dennis. Life goes on for all of us, but it’s your memory that keeps us all going. Rest In Peace dear cousin. Until we see each other again some day. I love you

  • Together we will never forget.

  • My sweet wife, Wendy Faulkner was attending a one day meetings in the South Tower on 9/11/01 and simply never came home to me and our two awesome daughters. She was an amazing wife, friend, partner, mother and woman and we will miss her beyond words every day until we are some day reunited.

  • This day will forever be the most devastating, heartbreaking and tragic day for my beautiful country. My heart and soul were ripped apart by this inhumane action against so many innocent people. My thoughts, and condolences go out to all who lost loved ones and gratitude to those who did so much and proved the resilience of our country will never be broken.. Elizabeth

  • I watched on TV and 1 1/2 days later was walking perimeter security working with the NYPD as a law enforcement officer. We spent several days working at many different locations helping anywhere where we were needed. We met a lot of amazing New Yorkers during that time and heard many many stories. I will absolutely never forget

  • I am ever grateful for our First Responders and applaud their heroism, and I will always be deeply saddened by the needless loss of so many innocent lives that day.

  • There isn't a day that passes that I don't think of Danny and also so many that perished that day and since then due to those attacks. I've made sure my children and grandchildren are aware of the sacrifices that have taken place. I take true to heart the saying in the 9/11 Museum 'No Day Shall Erase You From The Memory of Time'.

  • I was listening to the Spanish radio when they interrupted the music to say the first plane just hit the first tower. Everyone was in disbelief thinking it was an accident. I kept driving and the second plane hit the other tower. When I got to work I saw one coworker in tears. Because his daughter worked at the 92nd floor, she was very young, married for a year and 3 months pregnant. She had time to say goodbye on the phone and called her husband. We were devastated for so many lives lost by evil hands. May they Rest In Peace
    Coccaro
  • Never will forget that day. Was at work for Dr's office and the world stood still in that lobby as it did everywhere that day. Was so thankful me and my husband took my boys to the 9/11 museum and let them see all the suffering that was caused. My first son was only 6 at the time this happened. Truly an important part of history that definitely should remembered of all the brave and innocent souls that was lost and all that still suffer today from this tragic event. Never forgotten 9/11/2001.

  • On that Tuesday I was serving as a missionary in Kentucky and I woke up early that morning where I and my fellow missionaries were helping to run a camp for women with disabilities that week. There was a beautiful sunrise and I looked up at it and worshiped God feeling so close to Him which was a great thing since only hours later I would find out after the fact that the Twin Towers were gone and my mother Florence Cohen along with them. I found out later that she had last been seen trying to help her friend Dorothy Temple in the South Tower who had trouble walking. They died together and now they are in heaven together and their names are together on the memorial. My mother died a hero but she had always been that to me.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • I remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember driving down into the city and there was no traffic on the roads in NYC. I knew then it was bad. And it was.

  • I vividly remember that morning. The weather in NYC was so sunny and beautiful, and I decided to walk to work from the Lower East Side to Wall St. As I was approaching the South Street Seaport that is when I saw the plane hit the Towers and the world turn upside down. We are all strong and resilient, but will never forget that day. I visit the beautiful memorial pools once a year to honor all of our love ones we lost that day.

  • I was teaching junior high in Texas on September 11, 2001. We heard about what happened after a student returned to school from a dentist appointment and told everyone. Some parents began to pick up their kids. The students who were still there were getting upset and asking, “Could this happen here?” I remember answering, “No, this happened really far away and doesn’t affect any of us here.” A few minutes later I was led out of my classroom and down the hall where a family member met me and told me that they thought my mother had been on flight 11. I didn’t believe it but we soon found out it could be true. The shock numbed me most of that day until receiving confirmation in the evening. The next day what I most remember was seeing flags flying at half staff and thinking, “Those flags are for the country, yes, but THEY ARE FOR MY MOTHER.” Even now, the juxtaposition of the public remembrance and the private grief of September 11 affects me deeply each year. I am so grateful for the respect and love given to the 9/11 families by the Memorial staff and by strangers everywhere. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
    Joann
  • we certainly remember that beautiful morning reading the newspaper in our Toronto home when the phone rang; it was our son Ralph from Cantor's 105th floor. hearing a slight quiver in his voice yelling us that a plane hit the building and they are evacuating. Wishing him good luck and that we love him. He promised to call when safe. That call never came! We drove that day to NYC arriving near midnite and while driving over the bridge into the city, the car radio blarred 'Yesterday, all the troubles were so far away....' How true. Tears running down our cheeks we realized that we may never see our loving son Ralph again.

  • I was teaching at a private school in Princeton, NJ. Many of our parents were working in New York. By some miracle we did not lose one parent, but many friends were lost. Trying to help our children understand was a struggle. My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones. We will never forget!

  • Working at the fresh kills landfill sifting through remains artifacts and evidence may have been depressing and somber but the Americans waving support along the way on so many corners as well as neighborhoods lined with our national flag was uniting and inspiring.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • A day forever etched in my memory. I was at home in London and had a call from a friend telling me to turn on the TV. I watched in horror and disbelief at the enormity of the dreadful events occurring on screen. It was hard to comprehend that it was actually real. I cried for those involved, their families and humanity itself. I was humbled by the courage and bravery shown by those in the towers and those that rushed to aid them. It was a day that shook the entire western world. I now have a daughter (16), we visited Ground Zero in 2017 so she could learn why 9/11 will never, and should never, be forgotten. 2,977 souls RIP. <3

  • I was in WTC3. The staff saved my life by preventing me from going up the stairs and back to my room. Thank you. It was my first time in NY. I was alone, shaken and anxious. Having made my way down to the Staten Island Ferry, a kind lady, Leslie DeF, invited me to stay with her and her family. They kept me sane, helped me contact my family in Australia and eventually get home. I was blessed by the kindness of a complete stranger. 9/11 was an awful event to live through, but the grace, care and kindness shown by Leslie and her family will never be forgotten. Thank you Leslie and the residents of Staten Island.

  • The worst day of my life. I lost my husband, Bruce Boehm on our 19th wedding anniversary. He was on the 104th floor in WTC 1. I had just hung up the phone with him when the plane hit. Life has moved on, but the broken heart has not healed. Pleased always remember all the victims and their families. We are broken forever.
    Irene
  • Gone and never forgotten. I lost my brother inlaw Joseph Kent Collison who worked for Kidder Peabody on the 101st floor of the North Tower. Joe was one of the Canadians who lost their lives. Never in my life had I ever imagined such a tragedy with so many lives lost and loved ones left behind. Cherish those you love each and every single day. You never know what tomorrow will bring. My heart still grieves, not only for Joe, but for all those people who lost their lives. Time never erases the heartache. We just learn ways to cope still 20 years later. Never Forget!
    Janet
  • God bless the lost and the survivors. Never Forget NYPD

  • My late wife Debbee and I were disaster inspectors on vacation in the Poconos when we were called to deploy to Manhattan. We spent 4 months at ground zero and I'll never forget what we saw through the smoke that day and the many days that followed. My heart aches for those lost that day both victims and first responders and those that continue to leave us owing to the illnesses attending their service at the site..
    George
  • Spent some days at the pile but my brother who was a NYPD dep inspector , and my brother in law , who was a NYCT track worker both got sick from working down there. Every Sept 11th is a sad and somber day reflecting on all the heartbreak and tragedy, but also pride because we came out stronger.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • Never Forget 9/11, a time to remember and reflect on the fallen, those who are ill, the heroes of that fateful day and the enduring spirit that will forever be their legacy. Never Forget, that on that fateful day, that it was not in vain, that in reaction to the worst evil humanity had to offer, we saw the best that mankind had to offer in that Americans of all stripes came together to help. Never Forget, time passes, the pain lingers but life goes on. Always keep the memories of our loved ones lost that fateful day and the years since. Always cherish the good times and thoughts, for that time cannot diminish and take comfort in that they watch over us, for though we may not see them, they are still with us and they surely would want to see us not in tears but with a smile instead. • there was a feeling of unity with everyone in this city, and countless stories of heroism, kindness, and sacrifice by emergency responders and ordinary people who did extraordinary things would follow. And although nothing could offset the tragedy of that day, somehow the despair turned into hope, and we saw how this tough town could be at its best when things turned for the worst.

  • I was vacuuming my house, on my day off. I had a thank you dinner planned for that night, for the people who had volunteered at the summer camp I had run. A friend called to say that I should cancel the dinner, as people would be wanting to stay home with family that night. I was confused as to why... She said turn on your TV. A few days later I was headed to NYC to with a truck load of donations, to work for the Salvation Army. An experience I will never forget.

  • On September 11 I was a sergeant for the New York City Police Department. I was training that horrible morning at the police departments outdoor range in The Bronx. I spent several months in and around ground zero. I will never forget the aftermath. So many Innocent lives were lost on that day. I am a proud survivor. I will never forget.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • I remember watching channel 4 NBC news with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer while my new born baby was in my arms. Suddenly I saw the planes crashing into the towers, pentagon, and Shankesville PA. The beautiful crisp Sept morning with skies so blue changed to darkness and sorrow. Norman Rossinow, my big brother, never made it out. He was 39 years old with his whole life ahead of him. RIP Norman ??

  • I remember going to my office just a few blocks from the WTC on that beautiful, crystal clear September morning. An hour later I looked out the window and the world had turned black as night. The terror had begun. I walked through streets littered with dust and debris as I made my way over the Brooklyn Bridge to the LIRR station. I remember the FDNY and NYPD out in force taking care of all of us. God bless them. I remember, I share my story, I pray for those we lost, I will NEVER FORGET.

  • Was horrified watching the tragic events in NYC, while working as an Arlington Co. Police detective. But then had to respond to the Pentagon after the American Airlines plane crashed into it. Will NEVER EVER FORGET that day along with the days that followed while working on “evidence recovery” from the Pentagon.

  • At the time I was a Providence, RI firefighter. I had just finished a 14 hour night shift and was on my way to the gym when my best friend, who was a police officer called me to tell me that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I never made it to the gym. Some of my brother firefighters and I gathered what gear we could, and by 3:00 that afternoon we were at ground zero. We spent the next four days on the pile until we had to return to Providence for the start of our next shift. Those images and the work we did stays emblazoned in my mind and will never fade. I am retired now, but think about 9/11 everyday.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • Never take life for granted. In the blink of an eye it could be over. I remember the planes hitting and helping people out of the area. I remember the brave men and women the first responders who went up to never return. I remember the darkness after the 1st tower fell and praying because I thought it was my time. I remember the light coming back and thinking how lucky I was. So live life to the fullest, tell your love ones how much you love the everyday, and Never Ever Forget that day because so many people lost so much .

  • Sept 11th, 2001 is still a very vivid memory to me. The loss of life and iconic view of the twin towers totally alter our lives forever. For the first time in my military career as a Reservist, the horrific events of this day prompted my activation to active duty. First as a homeland security duty officer for the Coast Guard security mission in the Port of New York and subsequently as a Chaplain with the Army Reserve in Afghanistan. May God continue to protect us and may God Bless America

  • Sending my Love to my friends and everyone who perished. We all miss you so much. While time moves forward and there are less of us every year to remember you that day will hopefully be remembered by future generations.

  • The amount of loss and devastation was overwhelming and unbearable. But....in the aftermath, the love and compassion and support that we showed each other as fellow humans was incredible! Because of 9/11 my kids had acknowledgement and support for the loss of their father though his death was unrelated. In the years after 9/11 I spent a lot of time in NYC and the feeling of community and togetherness was all around the city. It was a horrific day, but for all of the tragedy, good sprang forth. If only we could remember those feelings today...I hope we can remember that we said we would 'never forget'.

  • Although tragic, this is an important part of our country’s history; therefore, we can never forget. We must honor & remember - this always must prevail. The beautiful clear blue sky then has the last word, which is hopeful. As one person, I will do what I can, yet I know that I am joined by many.

  • Together we will never forget.

  • My tribute is two-fold, To honor my beloved husband who lost his life 21 years ago. We should never forget what happened 21 a years ago and who is responsible for those horrific attacks on our loved ones. Also I wanted to thank all those who helped us: Starting with your organization, The Families, America, Those first responders who sacrificed many days after to help locate our lost loved ones. The financial donations, and health care, is greatly appreciated to this very day. All the support, love and caring helped me keep going. America and the whole World came together after 9/11 and we need to come together again. Thank you and God Bless America!

  • September 11, 2001 was my 50th birthday . I was looking forward to taking my daughter to school at Stephen S. Wise Temple so she could meet her first grade teacher and students . I awakened at 4am PST. The stars in the sky were magnificent and felt this was going to be the perfect day to celebrate my 50th birthday . I had figured out at 10 years old that if I lived to 2001, I would be half way to 100. I took out the trash , counted my blessings for this important day in my life. Suddenly , it evaporated into the most sickening and tragic day for our country . There would be no celebration . We congregated with close friends at someone’s home with our Rabbi praying for lost souls and first responders who were are hero’s . They put their own lives on the line on this tragic day of what is now a forever heartbroken day of remembrance . In 2011 I traveled to the 9/11 memorial to recite Kaddish and think about the impact it had on so many wonderful families these past 21 years . Our family hearts and prayers will be with you forever and forever . Never forget . Let kindness matter . The Ackerman family of California Amen

  • We will always remember and never forget. May we always remember those killed while working, traveling, visiting and aiding others on 9-11 in New York City, Washington D.C. and rural Pennsylvania. May God be with those who are still hurting in any way since that ay the world will always remember.
